Cachalia Capital was founded by Mashuda Cassim in 2011 and made history by becoming South Africa’s first black female-owned and managed asset manager. We have illustrated to both capital owners and their advisors that our excellent market-beating eight-year track record proves black and female-owned asset managers are every bit as capable as any other industry participant.     

We are long-term value investors that subscribe to an economic regime allocation philosophy. We identify value opportunities from both a top down based on the state of the economy, as well as from the bottom to identify value.

The top-down process is initiated by assessing macro-economic variables in order to interpret the investment cycle. Based on this research, the expected returns for the different equity sectors are forecast which enables us to determine sector weightings and consolidated themes.

Coupled with this we will seek out value situations from a bottom-up perspective. Fundamental research is conducted on companies which culminates in detailed financial models. In depth consideration is given to both quantitative and qualitative factors.
